Apple is ready to push out the new iPhone 16 line-up in just a few weeks. The global launch is expected to take place on September 10. While Apple is still keeping details under wraps, the leaks and rumours are doing rounds online. In a recent leak, the iPhone 16 smartphones will feature a camera much better than it has ever seen. The rumour has it that Apple is planning to bring big changes, including a higher-resolution ultra-wide camera and the rumoured capture button, according to an AppleInsider report.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus: Leaked camera specs

According to the report, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will sport a dual-camera setup on the back panel. The camera setup is expected to feature a primary wide-angle lens offering 1x and 2x zoom capabilities, alongside a secondary ultra-wide lens for capturing more expansive scenes at 0.5x zoom. Earlier, the rumours of the design revealed that these cameras will be placed vertically, similar to iPhone 11.

It also suggests that the primary camera specs will remain the same as previous models. It will still be 48MP with an f/1.6 aperture and optical quality 2X telephoto capabilities. The ultra wide, though, will get a faster f/2.2 aperture from the f/2.4 it had before. This allows more light to hit the sensor, improving low-light shots.

iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max

The primary sensor is again, staying the same. It’s still 48MP with an f/1.78 aperture that can also take 2X optical-quality 12MP telephoto shots, and has 1.22 micrometer pixels. The telephoto lens is also the same with 12MP and an f/2.8 aperture.

While the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models will feature a change, the Pro models are speculated to welcome a bigger shift. First things first, the Pro model design looks the same as the earlier models. They still have three cameras on the back: a wide camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a telephoto camera.

The ultra-wide lens will boast a significant upgrade to 48MP, featuring pixel-binning technology, which allows for flexible pixel sizes: 0.7 micrometers when capturing full-resolution images and 1.4 micrometers when utilising quad-pixel mode for enhanced low-light performance, according to the AppleInsider report. The speculations are that there will also be a 48MP ProRaw camera lens, which allows for more options in post-processing.

The new button will be positioned in the lower-right corner of the device, so when held in landscape mode, it will be located at the top, naturally aligning with your index finger on the camera bump.

The rumoured Capture button is expected to feature in all devices in the iPhone 16 series. The latest renders surrounding the changes suggest the possible introduction of a dedicated “Capture” button and a significant “Action” button, hinting at Apple’s focus on making the iPhone 16 Pro more capable in mobile photography. According to reports, the quick button will allow users to adjust focus and zoom levels, offering greater control over their camera while capturing that perfect moment.

With the Capture button, the users may be able to get rid of the camera from the lock screen and replace it with this physical control.
